A few days later I see that after their visit, the King and Queen of Bhutan name their child. What got my attention was the headline of  Dragon Prince has a name. Dragon Prince?

Bhutan (/bˈtæn/ or /bˈtɑːn/Dzongkha འབྲུག་ཡུལ Dru ÜIPA: [ʈʂɦu yː]),[10] officially the Kingdom of Bhutan, is a landlocked countryin South Asia at the eastern end of the Himalayas. Bhutan, sometimes called 'The Forbidden Kingdom' by outsiders, borders China to the north and India to the south, east and west. To the west, it is separated from Nepal by the Indian state of Sikkim; farther south it is separated from Bangladesh by the Indian states of Assam and West Bengal. Bhutan's capital and largest city is Thimphu.
Since the 17th century the official name of Bhutan has been Dru Ü (country of the Drukpa Lineage, the Dragon People, or the Land of the Thunder Dragon, a reference to the country's dominant Buddhist sect) and Bhutan only appears in English-language official correspondence.
The Drukpa lineage was founded in west Tibet by Tsangpa Gyare (1161–1211), a student of Ling Repa, who mastered the Vajrayanapractices of the mahamudra and Six Yogas of Naropa at an early age. As a tertön or "finder of spiritual relics", he discovered the text of the Six Equal Tastes, previously hidden by Rechung Dorje Drakpa, the student of Milarepa. While on a pilgrimage Tsangpa Gyare and his disciples witnessed a set of nine dragons (Tibetandruk) roaring out of the earth and into the skies, as flowers rained down everywhere. From this incident they named their sect Drukpa.

This seems to be how we come to have a Dragon King and Queen and a Prince Dragon. I am totally tickled to find this out. I guess all the years of watching various Asian things with my son makes this cool to me. We just watched Forbidden Kingdom the other night for the umpteenth time. We have watched numerous Dragon cartoons and movies and have a Dragonology book.

Their official names are King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema and Prince Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck. I actually learned something from looking at a People Magazine.

  1. William and Kate don't seem very 'lovey dovie' together, do they! And it's not just the 'British way' but brings Di to mind a little.
Scripture has some to say about a dragon and dragons. If you view these then in the top add an 's' to dragon and 'return' you'll see more verses to depict it/them. http://thekingsbible.com/BibleAdvancedSearch.aspx?exc=y&sch=dragons# Might find it interesting! A bit different from People Mag.!
